SANTA ANA, CA-AMCAL Multi-Housing, A Community of Friends and Foundation for Affordable Housing are debuting today Vista Del Rio, a special-needs affordable-housing community located at 1600 W. Memory Lane here. The community includes 41 one- and two-bedroom units that will provide high-quality affordable housing for persons with physical and developmental disabilities.
The development of Vista Del Rio serves as a collaboration to further expand affordable housing in communities that are underserved. The joint venture has announced full occupancy of the new community, which includes on-site complimentary services and modern amenities. Some of these amenities include social-service programs designed to increase or maintain the independence of tenants with disabilities, such as independent/support living training and vocational services.
"We are proud to be a part of Vista Del Rio and the unique partnership with the City of Santa Ana to provide affordable housing and enhance the quality of life for adults with physical and developmental disabilities," says Percival Vaz, CEO of AMCAL Multi-Housing.
Dora Leong Gallo, CEO of ACOF, adds that ACOF is "excited to expand our housing expertise to Vista Del Rio. We believe an affordable home is essential to allow people with special needs to not only build healthy, independent lives, but to thrive."
Many areas of Vista Del Rio are handicap accessible, and the community was built to exceed Title 24 energy standards and to LEED Silver-certified standards. Amenities include a large community room with a kitchen, classrooms, courtyard with fountain and meditation garden. The community is also located adjacent to an attractive golf course, bicycle trails, an OCTA bus line, park, UCI Medical Center, an open-air shopping mall and a grocery store.
Vista Del Rio is AMCAL's fifth development in Orange County. Others include Royale family apartments in Westminster and Avenida Villas in Anaheim. Alegre Apartments in Irvine began construction in November 2013 in partnership with Irvine Community Land Trust, and Oceana Apartments in Huntington Beach is beginning construction this month.
GlobeSt.com was unable to reach AMCAL prior to deadline to discuss the importance of special-needs housing in Orange County.
