OCEANPORT, NJ-The Fort Monmouth Economic Revitalization Authority will be putting out new bids for the redevelopment of 55 acres near Route 35 in Eatontown, NJ.

The decision to solicit new proposals comes after the agency, which is charged with overseeing the former Fort Monmouth Army base, voted at its February meeting to reject all four proposals it received in June 2013. Scott Oliva, an agency spokesperson says the new bids will released by this May, according to the Star-Ledger.

The land in Eatontown currently has six buildings that date back to 1953 and a geothermal sports bubble. Under agency guidelines, the redevelopment should include plans for 150,000 square feet of retail and commercial space, and 302 housing units.

Oliva says the authority "is hopeful that, in addition to attracting interest from developers who did not submit proposals in the first round, the respondents to the original (bid request) will submit modified proposals." See story in the Star-Ledger.
