NEW YORK CITY-As the retailer continues its $400-million renovation of its flagship Herald Square store, Macy's Inc. CEO Terry Lundgren is also looking to improve its Fulton Street store in Brooklyn.

While plans for the upgrade to the Fulton Street store have not been released as yet, Lundgren says, "Doing a little here and there—that's not what Brooklyn needs. What Brooklyn needs is for us to look at the store in its entirety and imagine the future consumers that are coming in and create a response to a newer vision."

He adds that the upgrades would need to appeal to millennials as well as other customers, according to the Wall Street Journal. "We will look at everything," Lundgren says. "You wouldn't want me to just paint the walls and redo the carpets."

After a prolonged downturn, some major new retailers have entered the Fulton Street retail market, according to Robert Perris, district manager for Brooklyn Community Board 2. "We're at the point now where a lot of exciting retailers are on Fulton Street and they are putting their best face forward," he says. "Macy's and some other stores on the mall need to up their game to show that they are as vital as the new tenants." See story in the Wall Street Journal.
