FALLS CHURCH, VA-Florida-based Stein Mart plans to open its second Northern Virginia location in the spring.

The department store will open a new store at the former Loehmann's space at 7271 Arlington Blvd. on May 15, according to Linda Tasseff, director of investor relations for Stein Mart. The store will be the retailer's third in the D.C. region, joining stores in Leesburg and Chantilly. A fourth store at Virginia Gateway in Gainesville is scheduled to open in early October,

"We're definitely trying to gain more of a foothold in the Washington area," she says. "The demographic of the Washington area suburbs is so much like our customer."

Outside of the D.C. market, Stein Mart plans to open a location at another former Loehmann's location in Aventura, FL, also on May 15. See story in the Washington Business Journal.
