ATLANTA—It's been a while since I did an installment of “CRE Musical Chairs.” But with so much movement in March I was compelled to point out some of the chair swapping. These are a few of the promotions and firm-shifting I've seen in March.

At Trammell Crow Company, Joseph McGorrey joined the Atlanta business unit as senior vice president. In his new role, he's in charge of all aspects related to commercial development including deal sourcing, feasibility analysis, due diligence, financing, and leasing of both speculative and build-to-suit projects.

“Trammell Crow Company is thrilled that Joe has joined the team in Atlanta,” says Mark Dishaw, a senior vice president at the company. “He brings nearly 30 years of industry experience and we believe that when we combine his knowledge and strong leadership skills with our platform, the result is that Joe will be integral to the success of our team throughout the Atlanta region.”

McGorrey previously served as senior vice president of commercial real estate at Crescent Resources in Atlanta, where he managed over $200 million in land sale transactions and building dispositions representing almost 1,000 acres and over 1 million square feet of vertical office, industrial, retail, and multifamily sites. His most notable projects include Phipps Tower, a 486,917 square foot office tower in the Buckhead region of Atlanta; FedEx Ground Packaging, an 112,784 square foot build-to-suit in Fort Mill, SC; and Shiloh 400 Business Center, a 240,000 square foot class A warehouse distribution center in Forsyth County, GA.

Colliers International Atlanta named Rod Mullice senior vice president and national director of its newly formed Transit Oriented Development (TOD) group. He will lead the firm's full platform of advisory services focused on transit-oriented development in the top 20 transit markets in the U.S.

Mullice joins Colliers from Newmark Grubb Knight Frank, where he was a managing director in the firm's municipal advisory group for TOD. Kelly King, previously with Cassidy Turley, has also joined the TOD group as a senior analyst.

“Transit-oriented development is a major movement in cities across the U.S., and commercial real estate located in walking distance to transit stations has proven to outperform its peers,” Mullice says. “I'm thrilled to join a firm that offers not only an outstanding services platform but a strong culture of collaboration. It's the perfect environment to grow the firm's TOD services and help our clients achieve their real estate goals more quickly.”

His transactions and assignments include serving as project executive for the disposition of 300,000 square feet of retail space for the City of Morrow; project executive responsible for developing a financial model for the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA); project executive providing a market analysis for the City of College Park; lead advisor on a $20 million, 500-unit apartment acquisition and debt placement.

Ryan Miller joined NAI Global as executive vice president, responsible for the Eastern region of North America. In this role, Ryan will serve as the in-market resource to drive business to and with NAI Member firms in this area. It is a new position that was created to expand NAI Global's capabilities and enhance Member services.

“Ryan's track record of demonstrated success is an asset to our organization and our clients,” says Jay Olshonsky, president of NAI Global. “His in-depth knowledge of commercial real estate, and his multi-market experience in client service, including leasing, acquisition and advisory, will help our Members grow their business in this region.”

Miller brings a decade of experience from CBRE in McLean, VA, where he held several positions of increased responsibility, most recently as first vice president, managing multi-market accounts for national clients. He completed more than 230 transactions totaling over $550 million in aggregate deal value. He founded the CBRE Associate Broker Office Network, and was selected by senior management to serve on the CBRE Americas Presidents Advisory Council.

Davidson Hotels & Resorts appointed Edie Bates to the newly created position of vice president, brand performance. Bates is responsible for supporting the property teams and partnering with the company's regional and corporate teams to enhance Guest Satisfaction Scores (GSS) and Quality Assurance (QA) results.

“With over 30 years of hospitality experience, Edie will help lead our team as we solidify our 'best-in-class' status  with all of our brand partners,” says John Belden, Davidson's president and CEO.  Having performed in similar capacities at a number of international hospitality companies, Edie's experience  will prove invaluable as we strive to reach our own, internal goals.”

Prior to joining Davidson, Bates held several positions with Interstate Hotels & Resorts, culminating in vice president, brand assurance and room operations. In that role, she held multi-brand responsibility for standards and quality assurance compliance, guest satisfaction performance, and room operations for more than 380 hotels. She also coordinated numerous domestic and international hotel openings for Interstate.
