ATLANTA—Commercial construction firm Batson-Cook reports it is restructuring its executive staff in response to significant business growth.

The locally-based firm has promoted long-time employee David Barksdale to chief operating officer and has named Kevin Appleton, Curt Rigney and Dave Schoendorf senior vice presidents. In addition, Jason Waddell has been hired as director of construction technology.

“Over the last four years, Batson-Cook has grown significantly as a result of new business including projects with major Atlanta-area hospital systems, Mitsubishi Power Systems and Novare Group,” says Batson-Cook President and CEO Randy Hall. “As a result of this increased volume, we have restructured our executive-level management.”

COO Barksdale now oversees all construction operations for the firm's four offices in Atlanta, West Point, GA, Tampa, FL and Jacksonville, FL. Barksdale had served as the senior vice president and general manager of the Atlanta office since January 2011. Previously he held the same position in the Jacksonville office where he began his career more than 35 years ago.

Appleton, Rigney and Schoendorf as senior vice presidents are ultimately responsible for strategic planning, business development and all construction operations essential to the growth of their respective business units. Appleton oversees all healthcare construction. Rigney is responsible for private commercial development projects and is currently leading the successful SkyHouse program, which includes $661 million in new high-rise multi-family construction across the Southeastern United States. He also managed the $400 million Duke Energy Center project in Charlotte, NC the first high-rise building in the nation to receive LEED® Platinum Certification. Schoendorf will also focus on private development projects.

Waddell as director of construction technology is responsible for the company-wide implementation of Building Information Modeling software and solutions, and ensuring Batson-Cook Construction is using the best products during pre-construction and construction. He also conducts BIM training for project engineers, managers and field staff.
