FORT LAUDERDALE, FL—Commercial real estate firm Avison Young reports that Greg Martin, principal with its office here, was named 2014 NAIOP Office Broker of the Year by the organization's South Florida chapter.

During Avison Young's first year in South Florida, and Martin's first with the firm, he successfully completed $80 million of leases totaling 669,868 square feet spanning 43 transactions. Martin has been in the commercial real estate business since 1994.

Among some of Martin's most significant transactions in 2013 included the lease of more than 50,000 square feet of new and expansion leases at The Research Park at FAU in Boca Raton to help the project reach an overall occupancy in excess of 87%. He also worked on several large lease deals in Coral Springs with the Florida Department of Revenue, BFS Financial, and United Realty Group, which helped turn around Charter Place after State Farm had vacated 50,000 square feet in the building.

He also worked with partner Keith O'Donnell on two significant office sales—Beacon Square, a 160,000 square foot office building in Boca Raton on behalf of Flagler Development Group, and the acquisition of a 40,000-square-foot user building for a local holding company for which he and O'Donnell assisted Avison Young Principal Wayne Schuchts.

“Greg Martin achieving such an astute honor is emblematic of our direction as a top performing commercial real estate firm,” says Pike Rowley, principal and managing director with Avison Young overseeing Florida's operations. “We have combined a progressive strategic platform with the brightest of minds in the industry to provide our clients with superior service. Greg Martin demonstrates this as shown by the number of deals, square footage and dollar volume he was able to accomplish in just one year.”
