SAN ANTONIO–LA Fitness has plans in place to expand its footprint in Texas. The California-based company will open two new fitness facilities in both San Antonio and Austin.
"As LA Fitness continues its aggressive Central Texas expansion, it is important that we continue to capitalize on our strong start in this market and provide quality, easily accessible locations for patrons in Austin and San Antonio," say John Zikos, partner at Venture Commercial, which represented LA Fitness in the deals.
In San Antonio, LA Fitness has purchased six acres at the southwest corner to Loop 1604 and Bulverde Road. The company will build a 45,000-square-foot facility in the HEB-anchored Bulverde Marketplace shopping center.
Additionally, LA Fitness has leased and will begin construction on another 45,000-square-foot facility in the Vineyard Shopping Center, on the northwest corner of Loop 1604 and Blanco Road. Other tenants include Whole Food, Target and Golfsmith.
In Austin, LA Fitness will build a 40,000-square-foot gym at 2020 West Anderson Ln, as well as a 46,200-squre-foot facility at 4001 S. Lamar Blvd. in the Lamar Oaks Shopping Center.
In total, LA Fitness will be bringing 176,200 square feet to the Texas market. The company began in 1984 and is currently in the midst of expanding in several regions of the country, including Texas.
