COSTA MESA, CA—At a time when many office users are downsizing, architecture firm Newman Garrison + Partners is expanding its new headquarters to accommodate its growth throughout the Southern California market over the past two years and to facilitate collaboration with its burgeoning interior-design division. The new office, located at 3100 Bristol St. here, accommodates the firm's growing staffing needs in order for it to serve its urban-infill multifamily, hospitality and single-family-residential clientele.

GlobesSt.com was unable to reach NG+P prior to deadline to discuss the owner of this property, which firm completed the build out or what the total construction costs for the build out were.

The new space, built out specifically for NG+P, offers clients a “one-stop-shop” for planning, design, inspiration and collaboration. “While many firms have downsized or gone out of business in recent years as a result of the economy, we are experiencing quite the reverse: an increase in projects, recognition for the work we do and a cohesiveness with our design division offering clients a unique and seamless solution,” says Kevin Newman, chairman and CEO of NG+P. “The openness of our new space fosters collaboration so that the integration of our capabilities is more cost and time efficient.”

The new space was a collaboration between Lori Michelle, creative director of NG+P's interior-design studio, and the architecture studio, and reflects a clean-lined contemporary feel with a nod to mid-20th-Century. The new office also incorporates recycled materials and finishes the firm's corporate color palette.

In addition the space includes conference areas, which also serve as showrooms to unique pieces including a designer conference table. The open, interactive and collaborative work areas complement large picture windows that the firm feels create the right vibe for inspiration.

“The interior design studio continues NG+P's philosophy of creating a cohesive approach to design while catering to the needs of our clientele,” says Michelle. “Our emphasis is on creating unique, sustainable and sophisticated interior-design solutions.”

Recent Southern California multifamily projects of note that NG+P has worked on include the Huxley and the Dylan in West Hollywood, the former of which had its grand opening earlier this month and the latter of which is scheduled for completion this summer. Other notable projects include the 212-unit transit-oriented Foothill Crossing community in Pasadena, to be developed by international developer Hines as its first multifamily project in California.

The build out is a sign that creative-office space is making headway in the Orange County market. As GlobeSt.com reported in March, Orange County, San Diego and Los Angeles are earlier in the creative-office evolution than the Silicon Valley because these markets are also earlier in the economic-recovery cycle, according to Bill Halford, president and CEO of Bixby Land Co. Halford told GlobeSt.com that some of the more innovative applications of creative office have not yet hit these markets because “there hasn't been a driving economy to drive people to develop new properties” in those regions.
