CHICAGO—Cicero's Development Corp., a full-service renovations contractor located in suburban Plainfield, has promoted Zara Johnson to director of business development, a position just created by the company. In her new role, Johnson will establish new business relationships and reinforce Cicero's current partnerships in the hospitality and commercial construction sectors.

“With more than 20 years of experience with Cicero's, Zara has a proven track record of successfully building relationships with our largest customers," says Sam Cicero, Jr., the president of Cicero's. "Zara is an outstanding addition to our business development team, and will play a key role in Cicero's continued growth."

Last year, GlobeSt.com reported that the company's hotel renovation business had taken off, as a steadily improving economy gave confidence to operators across the US that the time was right to undertake construction projects delayed for years by the recession. An increasing number of the jobs tackled by the company involved drastic deep infrastructure work such as updating HVAC systems, installing new plumbing or bringing hotels into full compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Johnson joined Cicero's in 1989 as office manager overseeing human resources, accounts receivables and payables, the company's benefits program and much of its safety program. She has also handled much of the company's evolving technology needs for the office and general maintenance of its operations.
