WESTHAMPTON BEACH, NY—Rechler Equity Partners have broken ground on its commercial, medical and technology development here called The Hampton Business District at Gabreski.

Rechler Equity officials say that work has begun on 220 Roger's Way, a 60,000-square-foot industrial building that will be followed by eight more buildings totaling 440,000 square feet.

Rechler held a groundbreaking ceremony on Tuesday for the project. In addition to Gregg Rechler and Mitchell Rechler, managing partners of Rechler Equity Partners, a host of Long Island officials and dignitaries attended the event, including Suffolk County Executive Steven Bellone and Southampton Town Supervisor Anna Throne-Holst. In 2009, Suffolk County selected Rechler Equity Partners as developer of the 50-acre, county-owned site.

“What we are commemorating today is the start of construction on a business park that is beyond compare not just on the East End, but throughout the Northeast,” explained Mitchell Rechler. “Companies locating here will operate in a campus-like environment where every business and employee need has been anticipated. From the latest in sustainable design and green technology to far-reaching amenities that will attract a diverse cross-section of industries, The Hampton Business District is in a class all its own.”

Following the construction of 220 Roger's Way, work will begin on two office and medical buildings totaling 60,000 square feet. The Hampton Business District will also include a 145-room hotel, a restaurant, a day care center, a health club, and a bank.
