EVERETT, WA—Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. has been selected by Boeing to provide project management and construction services for the aircraft maker's new fabrication facility here.

Under the terms of the contract, Jacobs is providing preliminary planning support, project management, construction management and project controls for the 1.2 million-square-foot Composite Wing Center for Boeing's 777X, the newest member of its commercial airplane fleet.

Construction is expected to begin in late 2014 and to be completed by mid-2016.

In making the announcement, Jacobs Group VP Tom McDuffie stated, “Technically complex facilities are the core of Jacobs' buildings business, so we are delighted to have the opportunity to further strengthen our long relationship with Boeing. Our capabilities, reinforced by recent acquisitions, position us to effectively support Boeing on this significant and technically complex program.”
