BENSALEM, PA—The official tourism agency for Bucks County, Visit Bucks County, reports that county's hotel occupancy rate in the first quarter rose 9.4%.

The county's $877.3-milion tourism sector also saw hotel RevPAR (revenue per available room) rise 2% during the first three months of this year and hotel revenue up a rather hearty 10.2%.

The Visit Bucks County reports that tourism in Bucks County generates $877.3 million in local economic impact, $117 million in federal, state and local taxes, and supports 11,637 jobs locally.

More than 100 members of Bucks County's tourism and hospitality industry gathered at the Centre Bridge Inn in New Hope, PA on Tuesday to celebrate National Travel and Tourism Week. Visit Bucks County distributed more than $180,000 in grants and handed out awards to: Hospitality Leadership Award: Michael Conti, New Hope Winery; Guest Services Excellence Award: Harold Mitchener, Bristol Cultural and Historical Foundation; Rising Star Award: David Peoples, Hampton Inn Doylestown; Community Service Award: Sesame Place Cares; and the Dedicated Partner Award: Eve Moody, Shady Brook Farm.
