MIAMI—Alternative workspace is gaining a stronghold in Miami—and Pipeline Brickell is seeing plenty of traction in the Financial District. Pipeline, the first shared office space to open there, has wooed a mix of more than 250 entrepreneurs to its collaborative workspace.

“Our membership continues to grow and diversify, with new entrepreneurs joining Pipeline, adding new perspectives and bringing their expertise to our space,” says Pipeline cofounder Philippe Houdard. “Over the past year, we have observed collaborative encounters translate into business opportunities and connections among our members. We look forward to seeing the creative collaborations that develop next in our space.”

The newest tenants are: Panda, a manufacturer of high-end sunglasses; creative agency We Are Visual; and Splyst, a social discovery engine that allows users to collect and display the things they enjoy on the web.

Houdard and cofounder Todd Oretsky have focused on curating a space with entrepreneurs and innovators who represent the industries driving economic growth, including technology, healthcare, media, law, real estate, and design. The result: small businesses, entrepreneurs, emerging companies, international firms, and creative industries are now members.

“Due to Pipeline's community, programming and service offerings, we are seeing not only regional and national entrepreneurs, but also international enterprises joining our space because of the resources and support membership offers as they get acquainted and seek new business connections,” says Oretsky. “We've also seen member companies outgrow their space and expand operations. These are businesses that are contributing to Miami's economic future and it's humbling to know that we've made a contribution to their success and the success of the larger community.”

With learning a core focus, Pipeline created the Pipe-Up Series, a monthly members-only event in which companies in the space present their business projects to fellow members. The aim is to share and learn, as these sessions can spark interest to work together, share skills and advise, or invest. A hub of entrepreneurial activity, the space also hosts regular learning sessions, influential speakers and events that are open to members and the broader business community.

In recent months, the following companies have also become Pipeline tenants: Clearpath, a company that leverages cutting-edge technology to simplify the US immigration process; LiveAnswer, which provides businesses access to call centers; and Crea7ive Interactive Advertising, a branding and web design firm. The Enterprise Development Corporation of South Florida (EDC), a nonprofit that supports emerging high-growth companies, recently announced that it has opened its Miami headquarters inside Pipeline.
