PHOENIX—FedEx Ground has broken ground on aselected a site in Chandler for a new 302,000-square-foot, 48-acredistribution center that is scheduled to open in August2015.
The new FedEx Ground facility, at the northwest corner of EastQueen Creek and Gilbert Roads is part of the company'snationwide network expansion plan in which 11 major hubs havebeen added and 500 other facilities have expanded orrelocated around the country since 2005. The new facility isexpected to add 200 jobs and will begin hiring in June 2015.
Michael Vickers, FedEx's managing director ofthe Desert Region, tells GlobeSt.com: “We choseChandler because of its infrastructure and the location's proximityto the 202 and I-10; also because of the strong growth in thesoutheast Valley—it helps us fill up the clock, so to speak.”
