WHEATON, MD—A number of projects moving along the local pipeline have been delivering lately, the latest being Washington Property Co.'s Solaire Wheaton, a luxury apartment building in this submarket.
Its debut is part of what local officials hope will be Wheaton's revitalization. Other projects nearby include more than 1,000 new apartments, the new Safeway and Costco, and planned relocation of the Maryland National Capital Park and Planning Commission. The project also points to the ongoing and far larger trend of transit-oriented multifamily development.
Solaire Wheaton, located at 10914 Georgia Ave., was designed by Atlanta-based The Preston Partnership. RBS Citizens Bank provided project financing; Clark Builders Group was the general contractor. Gables Residential is providing property management and leasing services. The building features 7,000 square feet of amenity space and its specs meet the criteria for LEED Silver certification.
