SANTA FE, NM–La Posada de Santa Fe has becomeNew Mexico's first Luxury Collection hotel. LuxuryCollection is a group of 86 luxury hotels and resorts that are partof the Starwood brand.
"Each Luxury Collection hotel is a singular reflection of itsplace in the world and its place in history, and La Posada de SantaFe perfectly represents those values, having played a major role inthe evolution of Santa Fe as an art community and a touristdestination," says Joseph Smith, founder of 1754Properties, which owns the hotel.
The hotel was initially a mansion built by AbrahamStaab in 1882 as a way of welcoming friends and familiesto this Southwestern outpost. Smith says the Staabs had areputation for elegant hospitality – a tradition that continues inthe hotel to this day.
