WASHINGTON, DC—Local company Fundrise, one of the first crowdfunding platforms to take aim at the commercial real estate sector, has reached another a milestone: it raised $31 million in a financing round led by Renren Inc., Martin Burger and Tal Kerret, the CEO and CIO of Silverstein Properties, and the Collaborative Fund.

"This is the largest Series A financing for an equity crowdfunding company," Ben Miller, co-founder, along with his brother Dan, of the company, tells GlobeSt.com.

Other strategic investors in the company include Rich Boyle, former Chairman/CEO of Loopnet; Scott Plank, formerly of Under Armour; California real estate developer Chris Rising; Ackman
