LAS VEGAS—More levered buyers are coming back into the studenthousing market, according to Shawn Sweeney, SVP ofTSB Capital Advisors and moderator of the “CapitalSourcxes and Financing” panel at RealShare Student Housing. “We areseeing cap rates compress and are seeing a more liquid market.While some markets give us pause, we are still bullish on thestudent housing market as a whole.”

Construction in this sector seems to be a better bet for somethan acquisitions. According to panelist JustinGronlie, VP of Harrison Street Real EstateCapital LLC, “For the past 12 months, we have done atremendous amount of development. It has been increasinglydifficult to find acquisitions where we aren't taking on anenormous about of risk. I would love to do more acquisitions, but Ijust don't see the deals to hang my hat on.” Going forward, Gronliesaid, “I think you will see more of the same…we will continue to doas much with our partners as we can.”
