ALEXANDRIA, VA—Akridge will shortly announce that it is closing on 2800 Eisenhower Ave. This is the company's second acquisition in the Alexandria submarket this year.

As it happens, Akridge owned the same building years ago, when it purchased it in 1996 out of bankruptcy for $9.9 million. The company renovated it and pre-leased to the Eastern Group. It sold about ten years later. Public records suggest the owner is a property trust company based in Massachusetts. A call to Akridge was not returned to GlobeSt.com for confirmation of these details.

Akridge is expected to make significant upgrades to the property, which is nearly vacant right now after its largest tenant, Honeywell/ADT Securities, has just moved to the ADT Alexandria headquarters location at 3601 Eisenhower Ave.

Cushman & Wakefield was marketing the fee simple sale in the 116,175 square foot. Prior to Honeywell's move, the building was 50% leased. A call to C&W was not returned in time for publication.

We will update this article when more details are available.
