DALLAS—More evidence that multifamily is proceeding fromstrength to strength. A month ago, Axiometricsreleased data showing that apartment rent growth hit a post-recessionpeak; this time, it's occupancy that is posting the strongestnational performance since the Dallas-based firm began keepingtrack on a monthly basis.

As of May, national apartment occupancy had reached 95%,Axiometrics said Thursday. Stephanie McCleskey,the firm's director of research, says Axiometrics began trackingapartment data on a monthly basis in April 2008, “and this is thefirst time since then that occupancy has been 95%.” It has risensteadily for the past four months, she adds.
