HOUSTON–Transwestern Development Co. has broken on Westway Plaza. The 312,000-square-foot office property will deliver by the second quarter 2015. The total development cost was not released.
In addition to breaking ground, Transwestern has already secured a pre-lease commitment from General Electric Co. to occupy 150,000 square feet.
“Westway Plaza is tailored to the needs of larger corporate users,” says Carleton Riser, president of Transwestern. “The floorplate efficiency, best-in-class design elements and visibility will allow tenants to optimize the combination of total occupancy cost and a high-quality work environment.”
Located on the northwest corner of Sam Houston Tollway and Clay Road, the five-story building, which was designed by Powers Brown Architecture, will include a two-story lobby, granite flooring, marble walls and a glass curtain wall entry.
Riser and Transwestern Executive Vice President Eric Anderson negotiated the lease for Transwestern while CBRE's Craig Beyer and Warren Alexander worked on behalf of GE.
