IRVINE, CA—Homefacts, a subsidiary of RealtyTrac, has launched a new mobile app for iPhone that enables homebuyers, homeowners and renters to view detailed property and neighborhood information and statistics on more than 100 million US homes. The new app enables navigation of neighborhood data based on user location and allows users to find information on any of these properties using the address, city and zip search tool.

As GlobeSt.com reported previously, RealtyTrac acquired Homefacts, a pioneer in providing neighborhood data and statistics, in April 2012 to grow its market presence and effectively arm consumers with the information they need during the home-buying process. As part of this agreement, Homefacts founder James Moyle joined RealtyTrac's executive team as president and CEO.

Homefacts provides data on more than 30 key local and neighborhood dynamics for residential properties nationwide including detailed local school information; location and details of environmental hazards such as underground storage tanks, spills, EPA polluters, brownfields and superfunds; along with former drug labs, sex offenders, natural-hazard risk and building-permit activity in a neighborhood.

The app incorporates pertinent and detailed neighborhood and home information including: property characteristics such as the number of beds, baths, etc.; neighborhood demographics, including population, education level and median income; neighborhood housing snapshot, including median property values and vacant housing units; in-depth school data detailing school locations, ratings, enrollment and phone numbers; complete registered sex-offender details including street address, distance from current location, physical characteristics and specific offense; crime risk, current crime ratings and crime index by offense; level of risk for earthquakes and tornadoes as well as historical documentation of earthquake and tornado incidents; former drub-lab locations and seizure dates.

According to Moyle, “This new app will extend to mobile the revolutionary way that Homefacts helps prospective homeowners and investors perform due diligence when buying a home. The app enables homebuyers to view detailed property and neighborhood data from wherever they are, helping them make more-informed real estate decisions.” The app's map-search tool allows users to view information by city or neighborhood.

The Homefacts app was launched on the heels of the firm's RealtyTrac app, which was released last month. In addition, as GlobeSt.com reported last week, the firm held a sweepstakes to give away an Apple iPhone a day for seven days to use the new RealtyTrac mobile app. GlobeSt.com also spoke with Moyle last month about the trend toward mobility in the real estate industry.
