TAMPA, FL—Publix has snapped up Kingsway Crossing, a 63,423-square-foot shopping center where its brand is front and center. Valrico Lake Brandon, a Canadian investment group, sold the Brandon, FL retail asset to Publix for $8.2 million.

CBRE's Mark Shellabarger and Dennis Carson represented the seller. CBRE also handled the property management and leasing of Kingsway Crossing for Valrico.

“The Publix store at Kingsway Crossing is a strong performer and was recently renovated,” says Shellabarger, a senior vice president at CBRE. “Kingsway Crossing is a prime example of the type of center that Publix is buying to add to their portfolio of owned shopping centers.”

Built in 2003, Kingsway Crossing is anchored by a 44,271-square-foot Publix grocery store. The retail center has a convenient neighborhood location north of State Road 60 in Brandon. It is 90% leased to tenants like Great Clips, Metro PCS, and Kumon Learning Center.
