NEW YORK CITY—Couturier Victor de Souza iscoming to a pop-up boutique in Harlem for his first New Yorklocation. The opening at 2312 Adam Clayton Powell Blvd. coincideswith the month-long Harlem Week 40th anniversary celebrations, andde Souza's New York Fashion Week debut on Sept. 3.


A Douglas Elliman Retail Group team of chairmanFaith Hope Consolo, EVP JosephAcquino and Arthur Maglio has brokeredthe transaction, the latest in a long line of deals bringing retailand other services to Harlem and Northern Manhattan. Theyrepresented both landlord and tenant in the deal.


“By choosing to open his first New York store here in the midstof Harlem Week, Mr. de Souza has demonstrated his commitment to animportant re-emerging area with strong roots in fashion,” saysConsolo. “His highly acclaimed designs are bold, fresh andexciting, which is exactly why he will be warmly embraced here.”Among the designer's clients are Sarah Jessica Parker, Mary J.Blige, Jennifer Lopez and Alicia Keys.


The Consolo/Acquino team has been instrumental in bringing anumber of other fashion and food businesses to Harlem over theyears, including YSB Salon, N Harlem, Questan Seafood, Harlem WineGallery, Ottomanelli Brothers, City Cookhouse and Maharajah PalaceRestaurant. In addition, the team has been responsible forintroducing many service-based and nonprofit community-basedorganizations to Harlem and Northern Manhattan, including the USDepartment of Veterans Affairs, Infrastructure Engineering Inc.,Food Bank For New York City, Children's Aid Society, Ralph LaurenCenter for Cancer Care and Prevention, Friends of the Children,Pono Learning, Trinity Women's Health Care, Moe's Sneaker Spot andOpen Bright Pediatric Dentistry.
