REDLANDS, CA—Amazon.com plans to open a fifth California fulfillment center in Redlands.
Jones Lang LaSalle represented the landlord Clarion Partners in negotiating the 704,115 square foot lease.
Amazon opened its first fulfillment center in the state less than two years ago, and now has more nearly five million square feet in its operations in California. The online firm says this has created thousands of full-time jobs. Amazon's other California fulfillment centers are located in San Bernardino, Moreno Valley, Patterson and Tracy.
“We are proud to be hiring for more than 2,500 full-time jobs in California that offer wages 30% higher than traditional retail stores and include comprehensive benefits on day one, bonuses and stock awards,” said Mike Roth, Amazon's vice president of North America operations. “We have found great talent in the state and we're excited to be growing quickly to serve our customers.”
Ruben Goodsell, Peter McWilliams, Mike McCrary and Nicole Welch of JLL represented landlord Clarion Partners, on this lease.
Amazon employees at the Redlands fulfillment center will pick, pack and ship large items to customers such as big-screen televisions or kayaks, for example.
Amazon offers hourly employees innovative programs like Career Choice, where the company will pre-pay up to 95% of tuition for courses related to in-demand fields, regardless of whether the skills are relevant to a career at Amazon.
Trammell Crow Company is managing construction of the new fulfillment center in Redlands.
