GREENBELT, MD—Related Cos. and Renard Development Co. are partnering with an eye to Greenbelt, Md.'s eventual securing of the much-pursued new FBI headquarters.
Greenbelt Station was recently shortlisted by the General Services Administration for the FBI headquarters solicitation. There are a number of reasons to hope that the Greenbelt site is eventually selected, not the least of which is the fact that it is a "Green Tape"/Priority Status project with in-place approvals. Also, members of the Maryland congressional delegation and Prince George's County Executive Rushern L. Baker III are very supportive of the proposal and will no doubt help ensure an orderly development process should the location be selected.
Related Cos., for its part, has its eye on the redevelopment of 1000 Pennsylvania Ave. in Washington DC, the current location for the Bureau. Related's expertise is in urban mixed-use developments and it is currently co-developing 909 Half St., SE in Washington DC. It would also assist in the development of the Greenbelt headquarters for the FBI.
