THE WOODLANDS, TX—The Howard Hughes Corp. and its wholly-owned subsidiary, The Woodlands Development Co., has announced that it has begun construction on a 205-room, nine-story Embassy Suites Hotel at Hughes Landing, a 66-acre mixed-use development in The Woodlands, the master-planned community north of downtown Houston.
“The design of the new Embassy Suites Hotel is unique in that most rooms are suites,” Paul Layne, executive vice president of master planned communities for The Howard Hughes Corp, told GlobeSt.com. “The hotel will also include a full-service restaurant and room service as well as many other amenities. It will be considered a AAA four-Diamond hotel.”
The new hotel is an upscale, all-suite, full-service property for both business and leisure travelers, slated for completion in late 2015. The 172,000-square-foot hotel will feature 3,000 square feet of meeting and event space; a business center; a full-service bar and restaurant; and a 4,000-square-foot rooftop pool deck that will overlook Lake Woodlands.
“We're thrilled to be expanding the Embassy Suites brand in Texas with our partners at The Howard Hughes Corp.,” said John Rogers, global head of Embassy Suites Hotels. “Our brand's signature two-room suites, complimentary breakfast and evening cocktails and exceptional 'Make a Difference' service culture, combined with the surge of business development in the area, are sure to attract both business and leisure travelers to Hughes Landing.”
