HOUSTON--Memorial Hermann Healthcare System(MHHS) has selected Dallas-based Balfour BeattyConstruction to provide pre-construction and constructionservices for a major renovation and expansion of the TexasMedical Center campus.

The master plan project includes construction of the HermannPavilion 2, a 17-story hospital that will provide the Texas MedicalCenter with more than one million square feet of expanded emergencyroom, operating room, intensive care and administrative-supportcapacity. The hospital will include 160 additional new inpatientbeds (plus 71 replacement beds) and 24 new operating rooms, withsix additional shell space floors for future patient bed expansion.A helipad on the roof of the hospital will provide expandedcapacity for the Memorial Hermann air ambulance.
