EDISON, NJ—Real estate executives convened at a NAIOP conference here on Tuesday offered high praise to the benefits that have come from last year's passage of the Economic Opportunity Act.

Dan Breen, executive vice president of business and economic incentives for Jones Lang LaSalle, says that for years the State of Pennsylvania touted its competitive advantages to the higher cost State of New Jersey. Now that New Jersey has overhauled its corporate incentive programs, it has gotten Pennsylvania officials worried, Breen says.

BLS Strategies executive managing director Jay Biggins adds that the new incentive programs have proven successful since the legislation was passed last year, according to njbiz.com.

“It's a shock and awe kind of impact,” Biggins said. “I think it's been hugely successful.”

Cummis & Gross real estate attorney Ted Zangari says the incentive programs have opened up the entire state to incentive options. “This has been a beautiful program to watch unfold,” he says. See story at njbiz.com.
