ATLANTIC CITY, NJ—Richard Stockton College isin negotiations to acquire one of two shuttered casinos here for anew Atlantic City campus.

Atlantic City Mayor Don Guardian revealed thecasino acquisition discussions at an economic forum meeting held onWednesday in Burlington County. The mayor said the college islooking to purchase either the former AtlanticClub or Showboat casinos, according to the Press ofAtlantic City.

“They were looking for a new campus for 10,000 students, and wewere able to convince them that Atlantic City is the location,”Guardian says. “So in the next couple of weeks, you'll see they'reeither going to end up with the Atlantic Club, which means all theproperty in that section of town will become the college district,or they're going to end up with Showboat, in which case theSoutheast Inlet is going to become a district. They're looking at10,000 students, four undergraduate schools, four graduateschools.”
