NEW YORK CITY—Noted developer and philanthropist BernardSpitzer, father of former New York Gov. EliotSpitzer, died on Saturday at his home in Manhattan at theage of 90.

His son Eliot confirmed his father's passing. Bernard Spitzerhad been suffering from Parkinson's disease.

The elder Spitzer was a prominent developer and real estateinvestor for more than 50 years. He built a host of majorresidential buildings in the city, including several along CentralPark.
