DALLAS– CBRE has announced that SoftLayer, an IBM Company, has leased 125,000 square feet of office space at Stanford Corporate Center, 14001 North Dallas Parkway. The firm will relocate its Dallas corporate headquarters in February, from its current 4849 Alpha Rd. location.

“We were tasked with identifying the best option to accommodate SoftLayer's rapid growth and maintain maximum flexibility,” says Clay Vaughn, first vice president with CBRE's technology and media practice group. “It was imperative that the majority of its Dallas employees continue to work under one roof to preserve the culture that they had worked so hard to build, and remaining in Dallas County was critical. Stanford Corporate Center was the perfect fit because of its location, nearby amenities and the ability to accommodate future hiring growth.”

Acquired by IBM in July 2013, SoftLayer's new headquarters has capacity for more than 700 employees. This additional space will give SoftLayer an opportunity to build out and increase its local employee base, especially in the areas of sales, marketing, finance and product development.

“Keeping our Dallas-based employees together in one corporate office is crucial to maintaining our collaborative, team-based approach to work,” says Lance Crosby, CEO of SoftLayer. “While we are a global company, we are committed to growing our headquarters within the city of Dallas and investing in our local community, whether through employment opportunities, developing products and services, or our Catalyst Startup Program, which supports the local startup community by equipping and mentoring the next generation of web-savvy entrepreneurs.”

Vaughn, CBRE senior vice president Steve Rigby, and first vice president Mike Cleary represented SoftLayer in market analysis, site selection and lease negotiations.

Brooke Scheurich and Fred Noblett, with CBRE's project management team, are guiding the design service selection and construction process for SoftLayer's new office.

Henry S. Miller Cos. senior vice president Jerry W. Averyt and Greg Trout, formerly with Henry S. Miller, represented the landlord, TCI Stanford LLC.

“Jerry and his team were great to work with during the ongoing lease negotiations. The landlord made great accommodations for SoftLayer, ending in a win-win situation for both parties involved,” says Vaughn.

CBRE was unable to provide additional details about the transaction by press time.
