LOS ANGELES—PCL Construction and MorleyBuilders have completed a $115.6-million tenantimprovement project on the Wasserman Building atUCLA, a research and patient-care facilitydevelopment dedicated by Eddie and Lew Wasserman. PCL Constructionbuilt out the interior of the building while Morley Buildershandled the exterior of the project. Richard Meierand Partners Architects served as the project'sdesigners.

The 83,000 square feet of tenant improvements on the six-storybuilding made room for the Department ofNeurosurgery and Institute of UrologicOncology and expanded the JulesStein Eye Institute. The lower and plaza levelshouse operating rooms, patient prep, recovery space, outpatient eyesurgery support, central processing, a medical gas tank farm and apharmacy, while the remaining space in the building houses clinics,procedure rooms, diagnostic rooms, private offices, a surgicaltraining laboratory, conference space and telemedicine room. Thecontractors were unable to provide a comment before the publicationof this story.

The tenant improvements earned the building aLEED-Gold certification. The building is part of atrio of similar facilities on the campus that include the JulesStein Eye Institute and the Doris Stein Eye ResearchCenter. According to Hon. SebastianRidley-Thomas, Assembly Member of the 54th District,the project also had economic benefits thanks to the contractors'use of local subcontractors and suppliers.
