HACKENSACK, NJ—Susan C. Karp, a member of the Hackensack law firm Cole, Schotz, Meisel, Forman & Leonard, has been elected president of Commercial Real Estate Women of New Jersey (CREW NJ), a state chapter of the largest commercial real estate network dedicated to the advancement of women in the industry.

"CREW NJ has been instrumental in advancing women in the commercial real estate industry through its outstanding networking and educational programming," says Karp. "I look forward to continuing this organization's impactful work and am honored to have been elected president."

Karp will preside over CREW-NJ's monthly programs and meetings of the board of directors, represent CREW NJ at national CREW Network meetings and events, and serve as chair of the Leadership Development Committee.

CREW NJ is the state chapter of the national CREW Network, a non-profit organization comprised of nearly 9,000 members representing every discipline within commercial real estate, spread across 70 North American chapters. Through business development, leadership development, industry research and career outreach, CREW Network seeks to influence the success of the industry by advancing the careers of women in the profession. CREW Network's 2014 annual convention featured Hillary Clinton and Steve Forbes among its keynote speakers.

"Susan's election to president of CREW NJ is further testament to her hard work and emergence as an industry leader," says Richard J. Ericsson, chair of Cole Schotz's Environmental Department and a member of the Real Estate Special Opportunities Group. "Our firm is proud to be affiliated with such an organization and confident it is in good hands with Susan as president."

Karp worked in a variety of roles with CREW NJ before being elected president. A member of the CREW NJ board since 2010, she served as director of public relations and director of philanthropy, and has been instrumental in CREW NJ programming, including an annual program on environmental law developments that she moderates. She also co-chairs the Regulatory Affairs Committee of the New Jersey chapter of the commercial real estate development association, NAIOP.
