DALLAS–Cassidy Turley is set to manage a major $27.7 million renovation and expansion for United Regional Health Care System, a medical-care provider in Wichita Falls.
“United Regional has seen a steady increase in the demand for emergency room services,” Brad Blankenship, managing director of project development services for Cassidy Turley, told GlobeSt.com. “As healthcare reform continues to shape how hospitals address patient care, United Regional is on the forefront of servicing a vast, North Central Texas market.”
The renovation includes upgrading 20,200 square feet and adding another 25,670 square feet to United Regional's emergency department at 1617 Eleventh St. The project will be completed in 2016.
“Cassidy Turley's project and development services team is experienced in health care and has demonstrated proven processes and strategies for clients with complex projects,” says Rick Carpenter, vice president of facilities management for United Regional. “Members of our team have worked with them before, and Cassidy Turley's knowledge of United Regional and overall strength made them a clear choice for the project.”
Blankenship and Kyle Griffith of Cassidy Turley will provide development management for the project. Perkins+Will of Dallas is the architect and GE Johnson Construction Co. of Oklahoma City is the general contractor.
“Cassidy Turley has expanded its service offering to include a burgeoning health care market,” says Blankenship. “Our project and development services Texas team is continuing to expand its presence for project and development management services in Texas and surrounding states. Clients continue to gravitate toward our firm because we manage the risks involved in complex projects and deliver value through savings and time management.”
United Regional, the region's largest health care provider, has the area's only Level II Trauma Center and Primary Stroke Center. With 350 beds, it is the only full-service hospital for the Wichita Falls community of 100,000 people.
“Emergency departments have become the front door of hospitals,” says Carpenter. “We see this trend continuing with health care reform, and being able to serve patients efficiently while providing a comfortable environment, privacy and the latest emergency equipment is key to our success.”
