HOUSTON—Woodforest is getting a retail presence.

The master-planned Montgomery County community will soon see a CVS Pharmacy, after The Johnson Development Corp. has sold a tract of land to LASCO Development Corp.

LASCO Development Corp. purchased the 2.29 acres. located at the southeast corner of Fish Creek Thoroughfare and Woodforest Parkway North, for the freestanding pharmacy. Construction of the 14,600-square-foot CVS is expected to begin in the spring with an opening planned for the fall.

“With more than 400 home sales last year and again this year, the timing is right to bring to life the retail component of Woodforest's master plan,” Virgil Yoakum, general manager of Woodforest, told GlobeSt.com. “The land purchase by LASCO Development for a CVS Pharmacy is just the first of several announcements we hope to make this year.”

Approximately 90 acres have been dedicated for commercial use within the 3,000-acre Woodforest master plan, which also includes residential, recreational amenities, schools and Woodforest Golf Club.

Handling the transaction for Woodforest was Jennifer Johnson with The Johnson Development Corp. Rod Scarborough with Rod Scarborough Properties represented LASCO Development Corp.
