WASHINGTON, DC—Herman Miller has signed an 11-year lease at 900 G St., taking 11,300 square feet. It follows the 40,000-square feet lease inked by Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP for 15 years.
Herman Miller will be the retail anchor tenant at the nine-story trophy office building. The company will open a retail flagship at the building and will move in this summer.
One reason Herman Miller picked 900 G St. was the 14.6-foot ceilings, which provide an ideal space to showcase the iconic designs, said Bob Murphy, principal, MRP Realty. "The company was specifically attracted to the property because the thriving corner of 9th and G Streets allows them to showcase their multiple product lines, including the newly acquired Design Within Reach."
