AUSTIN--Kendra Scott Design (KSD) is consolidating its corporate headquarters and moving to a new home at Lamar Central, the class A, mixed-use development located at 38th Street and Lamar Boulevard in Austin. Highland Resources, the project's developer, has signed the jewelry firm 10-year lease.
“We could not be happier about Kendra Scott Design moving operations to Lamar Central,” says Highland Resources VP David Bodenman. “This development has been in the works for a long time because we've wanted to do it the right way. We set out to deliver a product of the highest quality and sophistication. It's incredibly rewarding to see that effort and attention to detail recognized by someone like Kendra Scott.”
KSD will lease Lamar Central's entire fourth floor, approximately 43,500 square feet, for its headquarters, and an additional 1,500 square feet on the ground floor to open a flagship Austin retail location. The company plans to relocate to its new home by the end of the year.
“We are so excited for the opportunity to build a new creative and collaborative working space in our home city,” says founder and CEO Kendra Scott. “This has been a dream of mine since I was creating my first jewelry collections in the spare bedroom of my home. It was critical that we found a location that truly represents our brand, our creativity and our teamwork, and Lamar Central is the perfect fit.”
Local brokerage firms Cushman & Wakefield/Oxford Commercial on behalf of Highland Resources and JLL, representing KSD, negotiated the office lease.
“This is a great move for KSD and will provide the project with an iconic, homegrown success story as its anchor tenant,” says Bob Wynn, co-founder and partner at Cushman & Wakefield. “Today's tenants require great walkable amenities and alternative transportation options. Lamar Central delivers all of that, as well as a great design and unique central location.”
The retail lease was negotiated by CBRE Inc. and JLL.
“Kendra Scott Design identified Lamar Central as a great destination, not only due to its ideal location, but also due to the long-term quality view of the developer and landlord, Highland Resources,” John Childers, senior vice president at JLL, told GlobeSt.com. “Highland worked hard to understand the unique requirements of KSD; their enthusiasm for securing KSD as the project's anchor tenant was tremendous. KSD's energy and vision will be an asset to Lamar Central's vision of a truly one-of-a-kind Austin project.”
Lamar Central is being constructed as a four-story, 165,000-square-foot, mixed-use development, featuring more than 132,000 square feet of column-free office space with an additional 33,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space. Construction is slated for completion in the third quarter of this year.
