HOUSTON--Memorial City Medical Plaza 4, of the Memorial Hermann Health System, has been named “The Outstanding Building of the Year” (TOBY) in the 2015 Medical Office Building category by the Houston chapter of the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA), Transwestern has announced.

According to John Wheeler, senior vice president, Transwestern, the building has numerous amenities that make it a standout, not to mention an eco-conscious sensibility.

“Sustainability and operational efficiency are cornerstones of our property management practice, and it is gratifying to partner with our clients to achieve these results,” said Wheeler. “We continuously work to optimize the performance on the Memorial Hermann Health System campus, and this recognition is a true honor.”

In the TOBY awards, which recognize excellence in building management, operational efficiency, tenant retention, emergency planning and community impact, competition begins at the BOMA local association level, and winning entries advance from there to the regional level and, finally, regional winners advance to the international level. Medical Plaza 4 was one of five TOBY winners in Houston to advance to the regional level competition.

Built in 2006 as an extension of the Memorial Hermann Memorial City Medical Center, Medical Plaza 4 is home to 56 physicians and medical services focused primarily on the diagnosis and state of the art treatment for cancer patients. Located in Memorial City, Medical Plaza 4 is connected by four air-conditioned skywalks leading to Memorial Hermann Medical Center, Memorial Hermann Tower, the Westin Hotel and Memorial City Mall's 150-plus shops, restaurants, movie theater, ice skating rink and food court.  Other campus amenities include pharmacies, cafeterias, a coffee and bakery shop, Starbucks kiosk, fitness center, banks and a credit union.

Transwestern leases and manages the 146,317-square-foot building, located Interstate 10 West corridor.
