AUSTIN—Baltimore, MD-based Under Armour has Austin game.
The footwear, apparel and equipment brand, which purchased Austin-based MapMyFitness in 2013, has made further inroads into the capital city with the opening of its Connected Fitness digital headquarters in downtown Austin.
“We built and designed this building with the Under Armour brand in mind,” a spokesperson for the company told GlobeSt.com. “It was important to have a location that addressed all of our needs [room for growth, access to downtown running/cycling trails]. The corporate design team hand-picked every feature, including the mission values on the walls, to the standing desks. It was important to have a space that resonated with our company culture.”
Located in a new commercial development, the new office is more than 35,000 square feet and occupies the second floor of the adjacent building to near the restored City of Austin Power Plant. It currently employs more than 100 engineers, data scientists, designers and product innovators in digital health, fitness and sports, and is expected to grow substantially by the end of the year. According to the company, the Under Armour Connected Fitness platform powers the world's largest digital health and fitness community through a suite of applications including UA Record, MapMyFitness, Endomondo and MyFitnessPal.
The first Under Armour office in Texas, it is the only office in the brand's history solely dedicated to digital innovation.
