VALLEY STREAM, NY—A long-term lease has been inked by Century 21 Department Store at Green Acres Mall, located at 2034 West Circle Dr. in Valley Stream. The store is expected to open this fall.
A Cushman & Wakefield retail team of Gene Spiegelman and Jason Greenstone represented the Century 21 Department Stores in the lease transaction with Macerich, which acquired the Green Acres Mall from Vornado in January 2013.
“We are extremely excited about opening in the Green Acres Mall,” says Raymond Gindi, CEO of Century 21. “This is an ideal opportunity to extend the Century 21 brand to a new customer base and we look forward to partnering with Macerich as they bring their proven repositioning formula to a high value asset.”
The store will occupy approximately 72,266 square feet on two levels and will serve as a new department store anchor for Green Acres Mall. The retailer joins several newly-opened and expanded brands at the mall, including H&M, Panera Bread, Chipotle, Haagen-Dazs, Justice and Journeys Kidz. Other major retailers include Macy's, Sears, JCPenny, Kohl's, American Eagle, Victoria's Secret, Express, Forever 21, The Children's Place and Old Navy.
“This transaction represents the first steps in a strategic expansion strategy for Century 21 that we are excited to be a part of,” adds Spiegelman, vice chairman and head of North America retail services for C&W. “The C21 Brand will strongly resonate with the dense consumer population in Southwestern Long Island and Eastern Queens, as it will offer customers an exciting and innovative shopping experience.”
