ASHBURN, VA—GEICO has tapped Merritt Properties to build a 32,675-square foot office and training facility here. The new building, which is expected to deliver this October, will replace the company's current claims training in Tysons Corner. Andrei Ponomarev of Akridge is representing GEICO in the development and construction phase of the project. Jeff Groh and Michael Blyumin from JLL represented GEICO in the deal.

Located at 20193 Ashbrook Place, the single-story, build-to-suit project will be constructed on three acres in Merritt's Ashbrook business park, with GEICO owning the lot and building.

The building will include a number of classrooms for the training of their claims adjusters, and working labs and garages where the adjusters can get experience with accident vehicles.

Loudoun County's Fast Track for Priority Commercial Development program facilitated this three-way agreement between GEICO, Merritt and Akridge, streamlining the development process and reducing approval times. According to Loudoun County Board of Supervisors Chairman Scott K. York, the fast-track program has cut the site plan review process down to an average of two months.
