HUNT VALLEY, MD—McCormick & Co. has selected 99 Shawan Rd. here for its new company headquarters, following a months long site selection analysis that included several states.
The company will be working on an agreement with development partner Greenfield Partners LLC and the property owner, which is expected to be finalized within the next several months. There is a telecom provider currently occupying the building.
"The preferred site best met our criteria for size, location and ability to create an open, inspirational work environment," said Chairman and CEO Alan Wilson in a prepared statement. "We believe the new headquarters building design will offer an exceptional opportunity for collaboration and employee engagement.
McCormick plans to refurbish the entire building and landscape and achieve LEED Gold certification with a target occupancy date of mid-2018.
McCormick considered locations across Maryland, Virginia and Pennsylvania before identifying this site. Maryland, though, was a clear contender for McCormick's ultimate location.
The company was founded, after all, in Baltimore in 1889, Wilson noted. We are "committed to build on our 126-year history in the State," he says.
