LOS ANGELES—Regional consolidation among service firms continues, with CBRE Group, Avison Young and Colliers International all announcing acquisitions. CBRE has brought all of its South Carolina operations together with the purchase of its longtime Columbia affiliate, AY is expanding its Philadelphia platform by acquiring the Wayne, PA-based Remington Group and Colliers is growing its North Texas presence by adding Dallas-based CASE Commercial Real Estate Partners LLC. The three deals follow Cushman & Wakefield's acquisition last month of a Chicago regional powerhouse, J.F. McKinney + Associates, as well as Colliers' acquisition two weeks ago of Strategic Building Solutions, a project management firm in the Northeast.

The Remington acquisition broadens AY's reach in two regionally diverse markets: the Philadelphia region, where the project management firm is based, and San Antonio, where Remington also has an office. Effective immediately, Remington Group founder William Connor becomes a principal at AY and leader of the firm's project management teams in Philadelphia and San Antonio.

“Project management is a key component of our growth model, and we look forward to the significant contributions this team will make in further enhancing our relationships and reach,” says AY chair and CEO Mark Rose. Since its founding in 1992, Remington has managed the fit-out of more than 7.5 million square feet of office space, managed more than 2.5 million square feet of new construction and relocated more than 500,000 people.

The addition of CASE's employee base will expand Colliers' North Texas workforce to 182 professionals and also bolster its services in key sectors such as medical office, corporate solutions, retail, self-storage and investment sales. CASE services both occupiers and investors in the realms of leasing, property management and sales. Its Dallas and Fort Worth offices will rebrand as Colliers.

Craig Robinson, president of Colliers International USA, says that for his company, one of the key priorities is “to expand our business in major metropolitan markets like the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Gaining an experienced, deep, and enterprising team of 50 professionals will not only strengthen our operations but expand our business nationally in the areas of medical office, retail and private investment sales.”

The CBRE acquisition of CBRE | Columbia, its affiliate in that capital city since 1996, concludes an integration process across South Carolina that the company began in October 2013 with the acquisition of its Charleston affiliate. The acquisition of the CBRE affiliate in Greenville followed in January 2014. “We see significant growth opportunities in South Carolina, and our Columbia-area operations will realize significant positive synergies with our other offices throughout the Southeast,” says Steve Smith, managing director, South Carolina at CBRE.
