HOUSTON—Atlanta-based developer Songy HighRoads has announced that construction is progressing on their two notable hotels in the Galleria submarket—Hyatt Regency Hotel Houston Galleria and Hyatt Place Houston Galleria—with the former slated to deliver in the third quarter and the latter by the fourth quarter.
“The Hyatt Regency Galleria will be the newest product in the market and will be Hyatt's first full-service hotel in Galleria,” David Songy, CEO and co-founder of Songy HighRoads, told GlobeSt.com. “The hotels will feature larger guest restrooms, nicer ballroom function space and benefit from high-profile locations.”
The 325-key Hyatt Regency, located at the northwest corner of Sage Road and West Alabama Road, has topped out. Designed by Gensler, the hotel will feature 350-square-foot luxury guest rooms, 20 suites, 15,000 square feet of meeting space and a large fitness center overlooking the pool deck. The hotel is 14-stories and will total 260,000 square feet.
Hyatt Place Houston Galleria, a 156-room select-service hotel located next door, will feature spacious guestrooms with separate workspaces and an expanded living area within each room. Additional amenities will include free Wi-Fi, express checkout, computers with high-speed internet access in the Gallery, and a coffee and cocktails bar.
According to general contractor McCarthy Building Cos., the construction has created an estimated 800 jobs. Aimbridge Hospitality will manage the hotels.
Songy HighRoads purchased the former Galleria Plaza in March 2013, which included two office buildings, a multi-tenant retail building and two stand-alone retail properties totaling 425,000 square feet. The 7.6-acre site is directly across Sage Road from The Galleria. The renovation of the two office buildings located at 5233 and 5251 Westheimer Road are complete.
