HOUSTON--Archway Properties has relocated two 100-year-old live oak trees to make room for the second phase of Wildwood Corporate Centre, approximately one mile north of ExxonMobil's new campus.

Following the completion of Wildwood Corporate Centre I last July, the second phase will include an eight-story, 200,000-square-foot speculative office building and a shared fitness and event facility. Phase two is scheduled to break ground this month.

“It is rare and unique to make this kind of investment to protect trees—something I have not seen in my extensive career,” Steve Rocher, executive vice president at CBRE, told GlobeSt.com. “This is one of many examples of the ownership's commitment to sustainability and maintaining the natural environment surrounding the development.”

Tomball, Texas-based Environmental Design orchestrated the tree relocation, which involved months of preparation to ensure the successful transplant of the 60-foot tall trees. Preparation work included canopy and root pruning, fertilization and supplemental watering. Environmental Design will continue to monitor and care for the trees to ensure they take root in their new location before summer.

“We are committed to adhering to the highest environmental standards on this development, which means protecting trees that were here long before these buildings,” says Ben Allen, development manager of Archway Properties, who is responsible for the development of both phases of Wildwood Corporate Centre on behalf of GeoSouthern Energy.

The campus is located on Wildwood Forest Drive, just off Interstate Highway 45.

Rocher, Debbie Wilson and Jason Presley, with CBRE's Houston office, are the exclusive leasing agents for Wildwood Corporate Centre II.
