DALLAS—City Electric Supply (CES), the family business of 400 Record owner Thomas Hartland-Mackie, is moving into the soon-to-be-renovated downtown tower.

Formerly known as the Belo Building, the 235,000-square-foot building is currently undergoing renovations to some floors; updates will begin on the lobby, amenity floor and restaurant this summer.

“Office leasing in downtown Dallas has gained tremendous momentum and it's not likely to slow down anytime soon,” Matt Schendle, of Cushman & Wakefield, told GlobeSt.com. “400 Record and that corner of downtown have great potential and our team is excited to be a part of the revitalization of this iconic property. Working closely with the Hartland-Mackie family and having Thomas directly involved onsite are two unique opportunities for both the leasing team and future tenants, and we look forward to getting started.”

For nearly a decade, Hartland-Mackie's business has been headquartered in Uptown; CES' move will occupy five floors of the building, and will begin the transition this summer.

Eight floors of the granite and glass tower, totaling approximately 115,000 square feet, are currently available for lease. The redesign, led by Gensler, was announced last month and will include upgrades to the entrances, a new glass-walled lobby, a restaurant, a new fitness center, art throughout the common areas and a new conference center.

“The building renovations will transform the property, creating a more welcoming and modern aesthetic while still maintaining the building's character,” says  Hartland-Mackie. “The size of the floor plates are unique and appeal to a wide variety of businesses, both entrepreneurial and established. We are looking forward to welcoming a mix of tenants that would be well-suited at 400 Record.”
