WASHINGTON, DC—Global technology firm 3M has expanded its presence and extended its lease for more than a decade at Blake Real Estate Inc.'s 1425 K St. NW office building here.
The St. Paul, MN-headquartered company has expanded its operations at the 12-story 214,027-square-foot office building to a full floor—18,865 square feet. The firm extended its lease at the property for another 11 years until 2027.
The 3M deal completes approximately 72,500 square feet of leasing in the last 24 months at 1425 K St. Other major tenants in the building include Caterpillar, Fish & Richardson, Society of the Plastics Industry and Certified Financial Planning Board of Standards.
"We are pleased to have this major Fortune 200 company continue as a valued tenant at 1425 K St.," says Owen Billman, vice president of leasing for Blake, "as well as take additional space for the entire third floor of our building."
Billman and Steven Solomon with Blake Real Estate served as the landlord's leasing representatives in the transaction.
The 1425 K St. office building is LEED Silver certified after Blake implemented improvements for energy use, lighting, water, and material use. The company also took a flyer on 1425 K St.'s green roof -- it was the first company to install one on a spec development in the DC area.
