LOS ANGELES—Reflecting the company's dramatic growth and expansion, online marketplace RealtyMogul.com has made a trio of hires. It has brought Ryan Sakamoto aboard as its in-house general counsel, and snagged a pair of producers from Colony Capital, Michael Sanchez and Charles H. Kim, to join the company's commercial lending division.

Formerly SVP and VP, respectively, of Colony's commercial mortgage lending arm, Colony Mortgage Capital LLC, Sanchez and Kim will launch and focus on bridge and permanent loans. The duo helped launch the Colony Mortgage Capital platform in 2013, and have originated and executed nearly $1 billion of senior and mezzanine loans since its inception.

“High caliber talents such as Michael and Charles are rare,” says Jilliene Helman, RealtyMogul.com's CEO. “It's a testament of RealtyMogul.com's market position and platform that these two industry leaders would choose to join our team from Colony Capital. We are thrilled they are coming aboard our platform, as they will help us further build RealtyMogul.com into a world-class commercial real estate capital markets player.”

Sanchez has over 25 years of commercial real estate experience, with an emphasis on structured finance and portfolio management. Before joining Colony four years ago, he was a founder and principal at CapitalStack, serving as a financial advisor to middle market real-estate developers in the Western US.

Kim brings more than 15 years' experience to RealtyMogul.com. Prior to his time with Colony, Kim asset managed real estate loan portfolios for Business Partners LLC, as well as Imperial Capital Bank.

Observes Sanchez, “RealtyMogul.com is a rapidly emerging player in the world of real estate financing, and I am looking forward to contributing my experience and expertise to the already impressive team.” The company recently secured $250 million in capital commitments from institutional investors for bridge and permanent lending in commercial real estate.

Sakamoto has almost two decades of legal experience as a licensed attorney in California, with both law firm and general counsel experience. Prior to RealtyMogul.com, Sakamoto was the general counsel and chief administrative officer at Wedbush Inc., a leading financial services and investment firm. Before Wedbush, he served as SVP and general counsel for Madison Tyler Holdings.

Helman observes that Sakamoto brings “an impressive wealth of experience devising and executing strategic transactions and initiatives, managing administrative processes and driving continuous organizational improvement. His proven ability to successfully lead legal teams and manage outside counsel, as well as accomplish business objectives in a fast-paced and highly regulated environment fits in well with RealtyMogul.com's leadership position in the online real estate capital markets space.”
